Methodology
1) Load curve simulation & EV users  

  This bot enables you to evaluate the influence of a smart charging solution at level of an area. We suggest here to define your area by a set of parameters such as the number of inhabitants, surface of commercial and office areas, among others. The load curve is then modeled with a set of typical individual local curves of professionnal or residential users, so that each day, the smart charging algorithm needs a prediction of the area's load curve to run. It would also be possible to load your own predictions. to load your own predictions.
On top of that, you need to indicate the estimated numbers of EV users in the area, as well as the technical EV infrastructure. This enables to simulate the behaviour of EV users, based on mean distributions of duration and distances of travel-to-work, and periods of travel during day.


2) Smart Charging algorithm  

  Our algorithm uses a cost optimization function to optimize the times and motifs of recharge of the electric vehicles.The price of electricty is by default based on the spot electricity price, but can also be based on supply tarifs or typical suppliers' price optimisation on a 30 minutes timestep. Several constraints are used to avoid inconsistencies linked to capacity of charging stations and batteries. Several rounds of optimisation are used to evaluated the best charging scenario enabling to satisfy the maximum load at MV/LV station of the area.

3) How to use the bot? 

  Use the hypotheses module to describe your area, then launch the simulation. Within some seconds, the basic load curves, EV impact without smart charging, and EV impact with smart charging will appear. Several indicators help you estimate the benefits of the Smart Charging versus the maximum load retrieved from on the grid (connection power at substation level). They are : the percentage of satisfaction of energy demand by EV users, the economical benefit from the smart charging algorithm, and a smoothing indicator of the areas's load curve
